…they never left. Seriously, cloth diapers have always been around, it is the consumers’ mindset that changed.
Same difference? Not really.
Cloth diapers have always been available as a sound, solid choice in cloth diapering your baby. The fact that they were pushed back or over in the diapering aisles to make way for disposable diapers is a mark on the society that screams for convenience, but it doesn’t mean the choice hasn’t always been there.
It has.
And as cloth diaper manufacturers sat and stewed over the increasing amount of plastic and improperly disposed fecal matter in our landfills, they did what any reasonable producer would do in a capitalistic society…they improved their product.
Today’s cloth diapers are worldwide thanks to the internet.
Thanks to the internet, that improved product blasted across the world and into the homes of new and expectant parents - parents who were/are weary of all the pollution. And now cloth diapers are not just found at the end of a mile long grocery aisle. Now cloth diapers are available at specialty shops, natural parenting stores, and online.
If you haven’t looked at today’s cloth diapers, you should. You will be pleasantly surprised to find that the convenience you might have fretted about is a misnomer. They are now available in an array of colors, prints and styles. Plastic pants and soaking wet, thin flat diapers, have been bested by all in one diapers, pocket diapers, fitted diapers, and wonderfully thick, prefold diapers.
There’s more, of course, this was a tease to get you looking. Don’t think that disposable diapers will earn you more convenience than cloth; you’d be wrong. Cloth diapers are both convenient and comfortable for your baby. Wouldn’t you rather wear cotton than paper? Wouldn’t you rather reduce than add to the landfills? Of course you would.
